Howe Bridge Leisure Centre – Office Refurbishment
We recently completed a full internal office refurbishment at a busy, operational leisure centre, with the goal of creating a spacious and modern office environment. The project required careful planning, precise execution and close attention to health and safety – particularly following the discovery of asbestos during demolition.
The project included:
- Demolition of internal walls to create an open-plan main office
- Full electrical rewire to meet modern standards
- Installation of a brand new air conditioning system
- Complete plastering and repainting
- Fitting of fire-rated doors and all new timberwork
- Supply and installation of new flooring throughout
The aim was to deliver a high-quality, functional workspace where all staff could operate from a single open-plan office.
Live Leisure Centre Environment
A key challenge was delivering the refurbishment within a live leisure centre environment, which remained open to the public throughout the duration of the project. Additionally, during the initial demolition phase, asbestos was discovered – requiring immediate, decisive action to ensure safety and compliance.
To minimise disruption and ensure public safety, we established a fully contained working area, shielding the public and staff from the refurbishment zone. Once asbestos was identified, the site was shut down immediately. An air quality test was conducted to ensure the environment remained safe, followed by swift asbestos removal by licensed professionals.
Every phase of the project was handled with diligence, allowing the Leisure Centre to continue operating smoothly while works progressed behind the scenes.
