We’re delighted to announce the completion of a new two-classroom extension at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School, successfully delivered despite several logistical and operational challenges.
The School required two classrooms extending to accommodate growing pupil numbers and support future curriculum delivery. Our brief was to construct a permanent, high-quality extension that would integrate seamlessly with the existing building – both visually and functionally.
Works included:
- Mechanical and electrical upgrade on both classrooms
- New suspended ceilings
- New flooring works (vinyl and carpet tiles)
- Full decoration throughout
- Installation of new aluminium windows and doors
- Creation and installation of an astro-turf play area
As with many education projects, construction took place while the school remained fully operational. This required:
- Strict safeguarding protocols, including DBS-checked operatives, secure hoarding and segregated work areas
- Carefully coordinated working hours to avoid disruption during key times such as drop-off and pick-up
- Consistent communication with school leaders and facilities personnel to ensure safety and maintain open communication
Early considerations also highlighted that the only viable space for our site compound was part of the school’s main playground – creating a unique challenge in terms of logistics, deliveries and safety. We mitigated this with thoughtful planning to ensure the smooth running of the project, with particular focus on continuity and safety for all.
The project saw several specification changes along the way, but thanks to our adaptable working style, these were incorporated without delaying progress.
Careful coordination was key to the success of this project, particularly with regards to working in a live school environment, navigating crucial access and egress for deliveries and adapting to evolving specifications.
Our dedicated team delivered two modern and robust classrooms, with the addition of an astro-turfed outside play area, in a safe and functional environment and as per schedule. This scheme has transformed the school setting, giving pupils and staff at St John Vianney Catholic Primary School a brighter, more spacious and inspiring place to learn and teach.
